Essential Oils- Purification, Frankincense and Lavender

purification I will go back to gluten soon because there is a lot to share! But I’ve had quite a few people ask about different oils so I want to share how I use a few more. First though, there’s a little more info about oils in general. Did you know that our bodies have a similar molecular structure to a plant? That’s why essential oils can help us maintain wellness. When a plant gets injured, these very same oils are what it uses to protect itself. So it makes sense they would work for us, too! It takes 26 seconds for an oil to get into the bloodstream and 20 minutes for an oil to reach every cell in our body. Here are three I love that have been very beneficial to us! Purification, frankincense, and lavender.

Purification- this is a combination of 6 oils. Beside the fact that it smells delicious, this oil is super useful for all things smelly. And it doesn’t just mask the smell, it eliminates it! Add a drop to your laundry if it has that "mildewy" smell. Or add a drop to a wool dryer ball and toss it in the dryer. I recently learned a helpful trick: inject a drop or two into the wool dryer ball. That way the oil absorbed into the ball and won't leave any spots. I have had it leave a spot on a couple of shirts but it's always washed out the next time. Injecting it will eliminate that problem! Put a few drops in your car to eliminate odors. Or put a few drops on a cotton ball and place in your car vent. When traveling, put a drop on a cotton ball and put it on the vent in your hotel room to get out the musty, smoky smell. This has become one of the first things I do when we travel. If you have kids playing sports, this is a great way to eliminate the smells that come home with shoulder pads, helmets, soccer shoes and uniforms. Invest in a dark, 4 oz spray bottle, fill it with distilled or filtered water, then add about 10-15 drops of purification. They are available at Amazon.com.  Oh, how I wish I had known this when my kids were getting started in sports! It's great to get smells off pets, and completely safe. My sister used it in combination with castile soap and a little vinegar to get the skunk smell out of their dog. Since it has citronella in it, you can use it to keep bugs and mosquitoes away. herbal-oil-frankincense-oil-fb
Frankincense- was more valuable than gold in Bible times!  It’s an oil that benefits you physically and emotionally. (Some oils are grounding which means they help stabilize and balance emotions.) I add frankincense to my moisturizer. It has great benefits for the skin. It also supports the respiratory system. Can help support the endocrine system. Can help promote cellular turn-over. Good support for any system! It's a go-to oil when you have nothing else! s158637947137402828_p1_i1_w300

Lavender-so many uses! Considered the “swiss army knife” or “duct tape” of oils! And very safe to use on anyone and anything. Great for anything skin-related. It calms minor skin irritations, cuts and scrapes. It's perfect for a relaxing bath at the end of the day. Just add a few drops to some Epsom salt and mix into a hot bath. Be sure you put it on the salts first so it will absorb in before you add the water. Put on your big toe and/or diffuse to help with a good night’s sleep. You can also make a spray and spritz the room or your pillow! Make a "monster spray" for littles that have a hard time going to sleep! Let them spray the room or under the bed and the scent will help calm them down and lull them to sleep! (hopefully!:) It can help calm a fever. And it's great to help cool skin down. Try a couple of drops of lemon, lavender and peppermint behind your ears down to your lymph nodes to support your lymphatic system. Add a drop to your mascara to keep it from getting gunky. Use it to calm a nervous or wired animal. Used with unscented Castile soap, it can get rid of fleas. What are your favorite uses for these oils? I love adding to my list of uses!
