Bison Chili


2 pounds ground bison

1 onion, chopped

4 cloves garlic, chopped

1 c bell pepper, chopped

1 c carrots, chopped

1 c celery, chopped

1 jalapeno, chopped (deseed if you don’t want it as hot)

1 28 can crushed tomatoes

1 14 oz can diced tomatoes

½- 1 15 oz can tomato sauce

1 can black beans, drained

1 can kidney beans, drained

2 T chili powder

1 T oregano

1 T basil

1T cumin

½ t cayenne pepper

sea salt and black pepper to taste


  1. Saute onions, garlic, and bison in saucepan over medium heat.
  2. Once meat is no longer pink, add to slow cooker.
  3. Add remaining ingredients to slow cooker and mix well,
  4. Cover and cook on low 8-10 hours.
